Buckeye Yard

Buckeye Yard is in the northwest part of Columbus, Ohio. It was a New York Central Railroad yard, and thereafter served Penn Central and Conrail. When Conrail was bought by CSX and NS, the east part of the yard was taken by CSX and the west part by Norfolk Southern. I was driving east on Roberts Road when I decided to turn off and see what was there.

Here are some pictures I took with a Canon Pro90is digital camera. Click on the thumbnails to see large versions of the images.

UP No. 3578 leaving the yard. The train, headed by 3204. tuned right on to the Buckeye branch. It passed my apartment just after I got home.

Frame racks.

Thanks to Denis F. Blake for identifying them, and for correcting my mistake about the original owner of the yard.
